FUTURO of TSU was ocially recognized on campus in January 2012 and became Tennessee State University's first Latino organization. Within only two years of existence, FUTURO of TSU has been recognized as Tennessee State University's new student organization of the year and diversity program of the year. In addition, one of its founding chapter members was named TSU's student leader of the year. These acknowledgements are a reflection of not only its members but a commemoration of their culture and richly embedded family roots. The chapters’ greatest milestone was celebrating the graduation of five members who became their families’ first-generation college graduates.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education wrote an article about FUTURO of TSU’s impact on campus. Together, this chapter has connected its members to study aboard opportunities, university leadership programs, community service, and civic development through the League of United American Citizens (LULAC). Chapter members are fortunate to receive exemplary mentorship from professionals across Middle Tennessee and within the TN Latin American Chamber of Commerce (TLACC). Thus, recognizing the importance of mentoring they are continuously speaking to middle and high school students.
