FUTURO of TSU was officially recognized on campus in January 2012 and became Tennessee State University’s first Latino organization on campus. Within only three months of existence, FUTURO of TSU has provided TSU Latino students an opportunity to come together and support each other in their academic and professional pursuits. Furthermore, FUTURO of TSU has collaborated with other organizations on campus to introduce TSU’s student body to the Latino culture through music, dance performances, dance lessons, volunteer initiatives, and the planning/execution of TSU’s Cultural Appreciation Week.
FUTURO members benefit from mentorship, supportive educational opportunities, and contribute to Tennessee State University’s culture of success and rich cultural awareness. Through the continuous efforts of FUTURO, Tennessee State University students will be exposed to stronger academic, social, and professional interactions from a global perspective. The skills students need for success in an increasingly global marketplace can only be developed through exposure to widely diverse people, cultures, ideas, and viewpoints. FUTURO’s mission and vision support Tennessee State University wishes to continue building a diverse campus and commitment to increasing the participation of underserved population groups.
